No junk mail
This local mailbox caught my
eye because of the ambiguous
and contradictory instruction.
They probably should have
used the more common
‘No junk mail’ sticker.
Made me chuckle anyway...

Chalk and cheese!!!
The brief for a garage sale poster is always the same: the words 'garage sale', and the address (with or without a time). But it's amazing how individual the results are. And if in doubt, try two different mediums on each side of the easel - exclamation mark, smiley face.

The good old Kiwi garage sale
The more digital the world becomes, the more I'm drawn to graphics with an obvious human touch. Home made advertising for a garage sale is a great example. (For those outside NZ, a garage sale is a bit like a car boot sale, only it's usually held in or around your garage or driveway at home). Avoiding online auction websites is a cheaper, face to face process (no ’buy now’ price - remember haggling?). Finding the right spot for your advert, the right colour pen and something larger than A4 paper takes priority. I'll buy that for a dollar.

Abstain for the game?
Kiwis are rugby mad, but how far will they go? All the way? ‘Abstain for the All Blacks’ is the core idea behind Telecom New Zealand’s new campaign by Saatchi & Saatchi. Described as ‘edgy’,
it has immediately sparked controversy by asking supporters to avoid sex during the Rugby World Cup to support the team!
It has certainly attracted people’s attention but a poll tonight on TV3’s Campbell Live suggests that 85% won't be abstaining. For the remaining 15%, the photograph I took of this elaborate hoax sign on Waiheke Island recently suggests an alternative ‘sport’. Baa!
